ORANGE, Calif. – Another award came rolling in for sophomore sensation Sophie Srivastava. The Panthers' right side/setter was selected to the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District VIII team on Wednesday.
Srivastava joined an elite number of Chapman volleyball student-athlete to garner Academic All-District recognition. She is just one of six Panthers to earn the award since 1994 and the first since Jillian Felger's Academic All-District recognition in 2008.
The captain's performance on the court earned All-SCIAC and All-Region praise already this year. She led the nation with 11 triple-doubles this year as well as leading Chapman to a 23-5 record overall. Chapman tied for its best finish in the SCIAC with a 14-2 SCIAC record to take second and host a postseason match for the first time.
In the classroom, Srivastava has been just as dominant with a 4.0 GPA in pursuit of her degree in psychology. She was just one of two sophomores named to the Academic All-District VIII team and one of four selections to boast a 4.0 GPA in the district.
At the midway point of her career, Srivastava has quite the collection of awards as she was also the 2018 SCIAC Newcomer of the Year and received All-Region Honorable Mention as a freshman.
