ORANGE, Calif. – Junior Vasil Halchev was awarded the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week after helping the Panthers to a 2-1 record this week.

Halchev posted some big numbers for Chapman, including a hat trick in the Panthers' crucial 11-9 victory over the visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags. The Stags were previously unbeaten in SCIAC play before Halchev and the Panthers ended their streak.

Along with his three goals against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the center also tallied a hat trick against Whittier while finding the back of the net once against La Verne.

The Tujunga native helped the Panthers on both sides of the ball this week, scoring seven goals while tallying four assists, three steals and seven earned ejections.

Chapman returns to Allred Olympic Pool on Wednesday, Oct. 24 to host Pomona-Pitzer in a battle for a spot in the top-4 in the conference standings.
