    Senior Tyler Peck completed a rotation sweep of SCIAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the Chapman University baseball team. Peck is the third Panther pitcher to earn the award, joining Friday starter Jonathan Hernandez and fellow Saturday starter Mason Collins.

    In a game that produced just seven total hits, the Chapman University baseball team fell 2-1 to the visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags. Senior Jonathan Hernandez was a force on the mound, allowing just one run and striking out 10 batters in eight innings pitched for his second 10-strikeout game this year.

    The winning streak reached nine before being snapped as the Chapman University baseball team split a doubleheader with Whittier, 4-3 and 2-3. After yesterday’s extra innings win at Whitter, the early game win gave the Panthers their third series win in a row and boosted Chapman into first place in the SCIAC standings.
  • Baseball edges Oxy with another late comeback

    Another late deficit was erased in the final innings as the Chapman University baseball team came back for a 6-5 win over visiting Occidental to open a three-game SCIAC series. The Panthers scored five of their six runs over the seventh and eighth innings to get yet another comeback win.
  • Nine-run eighth inning sparks victory over MIT

    A nine-run bottom of the eighth inning gave the No. 13 Chapman University baseball team a 10-4 victory over the visiting Massachusetts Institute of Technology Engineers earlier this evening. The Panthers’ nine runs turned a three-run deficit into a six-run lead.
  • Garcia becomes first reliever to win SCIAC weekly award

    For the third time this season, a Chapman pitcher has been selected as the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week. Sophomore Nick Garcia became the first reliever to win the award this season with his first career weekly honor.
  • No. 14 Chapman completes series sweep of Redlands

    The starting pitching paved the way for the Chapman University baseball team’s series sweep of Redlands. The No. 14 Panthers (15-5, 6-3 SCIAC) saw their two starters chew up 15 total innings on the mound, allowing just one earned run to complete the series sweep with wins of 4-1 and 7-2.

    The No. 10 Chapman University baseball team dropped the series opener with No. 19 Cal Lutheran 12-3. Senior Tyler Peck moved surpassed 200 career strikeouts in the loss and moved into the top-10 for strikeouts in Chapman’s Division III history.

    The Chapman University baseball team rolled past the visiting Ithaca Bombers 11-1 early Tuesday evening. Nine different Panthers tallied at least one hit and junior Aaron Wong led the push with four RBIs.
  • Shimabuku walks off against Centenary

    The walk-off kings were back at it earlier this afternoon as they earned their third walk-off victory of the season with a 3-2 win over the visiting Centenary College Gents. Freshman Brad Shimabuku came up with the clutch single in the bottom of the ninth to send the Panthers running onto the field in celebration.

    A seven-run seventh inning gave the No. 16 Chapman University baseball team an 8-5 win over No. 5 Texas Lutheran on Thursday. All seven runs were scored with two outs, turning a three-run deficit into a four-run advantage.

    The Chapman University baseball team fell 10-7 to the visiting Castleton Spartans earlier this evening. Sophomore Mack Cheli continues to be a big hitter in the DH spot, recording his third home run of the season and driving in two runs in the bottom of the second.

    The Chapman University baseball team earned a couple of wins this afternoon against the visiting La Verne Leopards, taking the series and improving to 8-2 (2-1 SCIAC). Sophomore Kyle Joye hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning in his only at-bat of the day to help the Panthers in game one.

    Senior Mason Collins was selected as the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week after a series clinching effort on the mound on Saturday. Collins picked up his first win of the season and was the second weekly award winner from Chapman this year.

    The Chapman University Panthers earned a couple of victories over the visiting East Texas Baptist University Tigers earlier this evening, taking the series after dropping game one yesterday. Senior Tristan Kevitch batted .429 on the day with two RBIs and a clutch stolen base in the bottom of the ninth to keep the Panthers in game one.
