Freshman Julia Strand put up some big numbers over the break as the women’s basketball team went 3-4 with a crucial SCIAC victory. Strand put up career numbers in the Panthers’ win over Whittier this past weekend, scoring a career-high 22 points while grabbing seven boards, an assist, a steal and a block.
The Seattle, Wash. native averaged 12.9 points and 5.7 rebounds over the seven-game stretch. She earned her first start of the season as the team opened up 2019 with a game against Amherst on New Year’s Day and found herself in the starting five again this past weekend as the Panthers rolled past Whittier. Strand has been a force in the paint for the Panthers with a 62 percent field goal percentage over the last two games.
