Chapman University student-athletes raised the bar with a record number of 220 SCIAC All-Academic selections for the 2017-18 school year. This year marks the first time in Chapman’s six-year history in the SCIAC that more than 200 Panthers were included on the All-Academic teams.
The Chapman University cross country teams wrapped up the 2017 cross country season at the NCAA Division III West Region Championships, led by a pair of bests. Junior Jonah Soltes ran a personal-best while junior Nika Cokas ran a season-best.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the SCIAC Championships at Prado Park on Saturday morning. Despite both teams coming in ninth place, a trio of men and junior Nika Cokas set personal records at the event.
In their final race before the SCIAC Cross Country Championships, Chapman’s men’s and women’s cross country teams took to the course at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. Sophomore Drake Butler ran a personal-best to highlight the met for the Panthers.
The Chapman University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the SCIAC Multi-Dual this afternoon at La Mirada Regional Park. The women placed eighth overall in the 6K race but posted a 2-6 record, beating both Cal Lutheran and La Verne in head-to-head scoring.
Freshman Cailyn Sakurai finished in the top-25 to lead the Chapman University cross country teams at the Golden West Central Park Classic. The women’s team took ninth in the 5k race while the men’s team came in 16th in the four-mile race.
Sophomore Drake Butler opened the 2017 season with a career-best run to lead the Chapman University cross country teams at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday. A trio of freshman highlighted the first competition of the season for the women’s team.
