  • Women's tennis team, nine Panthers earn academic distinction

    For the fourth year in a row, the Chapman University women’s tennis team has been recognized as one of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s All-Academic teams. Nine of the 14 student-athletes on the roster were also recognized for their individual achievements in the classroom.

    Chapman University student-athletes raised the bar with a record number of 220 SCIAC All-Academic selections for the 2017-18 school year. This year marks the first time in Chapman’s six-year history in the SCIAC that more than 200 Panthers were included on the All-Academic teams.

    The Chapman University women’s tennis team bowed out of the SCIAC Tournament with a 5-0 loss to top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Panthers end the season with a 10-9 overall record – seven more wins than a year ago.

    Members of the Chapman women’s tennis team competed in the Ojai Tournament last week. Freshman Alisa Ogranovich led the Panthers and made her way to the final match, winning three matches along the way.

    The Chapman University women’s tennis team (9-8, 3-3 SCIAC) dropped its final home match of the season 9-0 today to the visiting Pomona-Pitzer (10-7, 4-1 SCIAC). Freshman Alisa Ogranovich put up a fight in the second round of her singles match, taking the second set to a final score of 6-3.

    The Chapman University women’s tennis team won its seventh match in a row with a 6-3 victory over Caltech on Saturday. Freshman Alisa Ogranovich won her eighth singles match in a row to improve to 12-2 on the year.

    The winning streak reached six matches as the 30th-ranked Chapman University women’s tennis team swept Whitworth 9-0 on Thursday. The Panthers (7-6) posted its third straight sweep over a team from the Northwest Conference.

    The Chapman University women’s tennis team earned its second consecutive shutout and fifth consecutive victory with a 9-0 win over George Fox earlier this afternoon. The Panthers were led in both the doubles and singles matches by six rookies.

    Freshman Madison Ross was selected as the SCIAC Athlete of the Week after she led the women’s tennis team to a 5-4 victory over the visiting Biola last Thursday afternoon. The rookie won both of her matches on the day, starting out with an 8-3 doubles victory in the No. 3 match. Ross moved on to the singles, where she defeated Madison Swaney from Biola in a come-from-behind 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4) match.

    The Chapman University women’s tennis team won its 2018 season opener 5-4 against Biola earlier today. Freshman Madison Ross defeated Eagle freshman Madison Swaney in a come-from-behind 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4) victory in the No. 2 match.

    Youth will be the predominant factor of the 2018 season for the Chapman University women’s tennis team. The Panthers welcome 12 freshmen to the roster with no seniors and just two returners.

    Chapman University held its formal grand opening of the brand new Erin J. Lastinger ’88 Tennis Center on Oct. 7. The new $5.3 million facility is located across from Marion Knott Studios on the corner of N. Cypress  St. and W. Palm Ave.
  • Ross posts winning record at West Regionals

    The Chapman University men’s and women’s tennis teams headed out to Claremont to compete in the ITA Division III West Regional this past weekend. Sophomore Lee Sadler led the men’s side, earning a spot in the round of 32. Freshman Madison Ross led the women’s side, going 3-2 on the weekend and advancing to the round of 16.
