INDIANAPOLIS – Chapman University has nominated former lacrosse standout Stacey Zuppa for the NCAA Woman of the Year. The NCAA announced a record sized list of 581 nominees across all three divisions.

Zuppa was a three-time All-SCIAC selection and two-time All-Region selection as a midfielder. She broke several school records in her three years on campus and, most notably, left her mark as the school's all-time points and assists leader.

She graduated in May with a 3.57 GPA, earning her degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Leadership Studies. She became a lead student researcher in the Comparative Biometrics Lab on campus, studying the locomotion and biomechanics of hagfish. Her research won an award at the Southwestern Organismal Biology Conference as the best undergraduate poster.

The Centennial, Colo. native also became involved in the Global Medical Brigades while at Chapman and became the Education Chair of the Executive Board of the club's chapter on campus. She made two trips to Central America with the Brigades. She was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority as well as an Orientation Leader, Wild Animal Sanctuary volunteer, Oncology Trial Insights intern and member of SAAC during her time at Chapman.

Zuppa was part of a record-breaking list in 2018 as the NCAA received 581 nominations for Woman of the Year -251 from Division I, 131 from Division II and 199 from Division III. She is one of 34 lacrosse student-athletes on the prestigious list.

Established in 1991 and now in its 28th year, the NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
