    An impressive number of Chapman University student-athletes were again recognized for their work in the classroom. The Panthers placed 178 student-athletes on the SCIAC’s annual All-Academic team, the conference announced on Thursday.

    The second SCIAC regular season championship in school history led to the three All-SCIAC selections and a second Coaching Staff of the Year honor for the Chapman University women’s basketball team. Senior Lauren Sato and sophomore Jaryn Fajardo were selected to the All-SCIAC First Team while senior Megan Charles earned a Second Team nod.

    Senior Lauren Sato stepped to the line with four seconds left in a tie game with score all knotted up and calmly knocked down a pair of free throws to lift the Chapman University women’s basketball team to a 66-64 win over Cal Lutheran in the SCIAC semifinal.

    The Chapman University women’s basketball team defeated Occidental College 74-62 to earn a share of the SCIAC Championship regular season title at the Hutton Sports Center on Tuesday night. Senior Lauren Sato capped off senior night with 26 points to propel the Panthers into the SCIAC Tournament.

    Junior Jaime Hum-Nishikado had the hot hand off the bench leading the Chapman University women’s basketball team to a 82-55 victory at the Hutton Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. The guard score 19 points in the first half to help the Panthers clinch a SCIAC Tournament playoff spot.
  • Win streak extends to six games for women's basketball

    The entire roster pitched in as the Chapman University women’s basketball team defeated visiting Pomona-Pitzer 80-56 for its sixth win in a row. Senior Lauren Sato led the Panthers (13-8, 10-2 SCIAC) with 16 points but the bench scored 33 points in the big victory.

    For the second time this season, sophomore Jaryn Fajardo has earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors. Chapman’s point guard led the Panthers to two more wins last week, extending their win streak to five games.

    A fast start stood up as the Chapman University women’s basketball team completed a season sweep of Cal Lutheran with a 70-58 win over the Regals. Senior Lauren Sato went off for 20 points to lead the Panthers (10-8, 7-2 SCIAC) to the win over the SCIAC leaders.
  • Sato’s career night lifts Chapman to comeback victory

    Senior Lauren Sato produced a career-high 27 points to lift the Chapman University women’s basketball team to a 71-59 victory over Whittier College on Saturday at the Hutton Sports Center. Sato hit seven triples and was 9-for-13 in the field to help the Panthers to their fifth SCIAC victory.

    Sophomore Jaryn Fajardo scored 16 points and grabbed four steals and six assists to lead the Chapman University women’s basketball team to a 63-61 victory over University of Redlands at the Hutton Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs and Panthers traded leads five times and tied the game 10 times before the Panthers walked away with their third straight victory.

    Senior Megan Charles scored 22 points but eighth-ranked George Fox pulled away in the fourth quarter as the Panthers fell 77-65. Chapman (1-2) was playing its second top-10 team in just its third game of the season.

    Thirteen different players scored at least a point as the Chapman University women’s basketball team downed visiting Bethesda 84-59 on Sunday. The Panthers (1-1) used a big third quarter to blow open a close game.
