  • Trio of Panthers earn D3football All-Region honors

    Three members of the Chapman University football team were named to the d3football.com All-West Region Third Team this Tuesday. Seniors Ricky Bautista and Jacob Isabel were selected for the offensive team, while fellow senior Austin Pyka was named to the defensive team.

    The SCIAC Champions Chapman University football team made school history as the Panthers took home four of the five major awards and earned 12 All-SCIAC selections. Nine Panthers were selected to the First Team and three players earned Second Team honors.

    The Chapman University football team fell 50-6 to No. 1 Mary Hardin-Baylor in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship. Senior Jacob Isabel became the new school record holder for receiving yards in a season in the loss.

    Chapman won its second SCIAC title to advance into the NCAA Division III Football Championship. The Panthers travel to Belton, Texas to take on No. 1 Mary Hardin-Baylor in the first round of the national tournament.

    The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has announced that tickets for the first round matchup between Chapman and UMHB will go on sale on Thursday, Nov. 16. Chapman’s fans are encouraged to call the UMHB ticket office to reserve their tickets or purchase their tickets at the gate.

  • Freshman selected as SCIAC Athlete of the Week

    Freshman Dillon Keefe was honored as the SCIAC Athlete of the Week for his dominating defensive performance against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this weekend. The linebacker is the first defensive player to earn the award in the 2017 season. The Orange, Calif. native recorded nine tackles, including three tackles for a loss of 17 yards. He also tallied the only two sacks of the game for a loss of 12 yards in the 48-38 win over the Stags.

    The Chapman University football team finished off a perfect SCIAC season with a 48-38 win over visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Panthers (6-2, 6-0 SCIAC) completed their second undefeated conference season in school history with win and will head to the NCAA Division III Football Championship on a six-game win streak.

  • Bautista named SCIAC Athlete of the Week for second time in three weeks

    Senior Ricky Bautista proved to be the anchor in Chapman’s offense yet again, earning SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in just three weeks. The Panthers took down Cal Lutheran 46-38 at Wilson Field this week and earned at least a share of the SCIAC Championship title with the victory.
  • Football clinches SCIAC title with shootout victory over Cal Lutheran

    The Chapman University football team clinched at least a share of the SCIAC Championship with a 46-38 win over Cal Lutheran (5-2, 3-2 SCIAC) on Saturday night. The Panthers (5-2, 5-0 SCIAC) remain undefeated in SCIAC play and are crowned the champions for the second time since entering the conference in 2012.

    Chapman can clinch at least a share of the SCIAC Championship with a win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday night. With a win, the Panthers would also clinch the SCIAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Football Championship, making them one of the first teams in the nation to punch their ticket.

    The offense continued to roll with big plays as the Chapman University football team took down La Verne 38-21 to win its fourth game in a row. Senior Ricky Bautista complted over 70 percent of his passes for the fourth week in a row and senior Joe Mudie had a career-best 166 yards on the ground.

    Chapman puts it three-game win streak on the line as it returns to the road to face La Verne at 1 p.m. on Saturday. At 3-0 in the SCIAC, the Panthers sit alone in first place with four more teams right one their heels with one loss, including La Verne.

    Senior Ricky Bautista was named to the d3football.com Team of the Week this week for his huge performance on Saturday, Oct. 14 against Redlands. The veteran quarterback led the Panthers to a 45-26 victory over the Bulldogs to push the squad into first place in the SCIAC.

    Senior QB Ricky Bautista landed his first career SCIAC Athlete of the Week honor after leading the Chapman University football team to a 45-26 win over Redlands last week. Bautista completed 21-of-29 passes for 414 yards and four touchdowns.

    Big plays on both ends of the field led the Chapman University football team to a 45-24 win over the Whittier Poets on Homecoming night at Chapman Stadium. The Panthers (2-2, 2-0 SCIAC) scored in the first minute of the game and ran up a 31-0 halftime lead.

  • Mudie’s game-winning TD earns him SCIAC Athlete of the Week

    Senior Joe Mudie lifted the Panthers to a nail-biting 42-40 victory over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday night, earning the SCIAC Athlete of the Week nomination. Down four with one final untimed play due to a Pomona-Pitzer penalty, the captain ran one yard for a touchdown to give Chapman its first SCIAC win. The La Canada native was a go-to for Chapman the whole game, leading the team with 104 rushing yards on 21 carries and tallying 32 receiving yards on two catches.
  • Mudie scores on final play to complete dramatic comeback

    Down four with on final play and on the one-yard line, senior Joe Mudie pushed across the goalline to lift the Chapman University football team to a 42-40 win over Pomona-Pitzer. The Panthers (1-2, 1-0 SCIAC) secured their first win in dramatic fashion after trailing by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter.

    Two more Chapman athletes were named SCIAC Athlete of the Week in their respective sports this week. Senior Kylie Cooke earned the nod after she helped the women’s volleyball team defeat No. 7 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, while fellow senior Jacob Isabel had a strong showing against Trinity, earning him the award.

    A late lead was erased and overcome in overtime as the Chapman University football team dropped a 41-35 heartbreaker at Trinity. The Tigers (2-1) returned a fumble for a touchdown in overtime to clinch the victory.

    Chapman makes its first-ever trip to San Antonio to face off against the Trinity University Tigers. The game is the final non-conference matchup for the Panthers this season.
  • Football forces four turnovers but falls to No. 7 Linfield

    The Chapman University football team took a lead into halftime but fell 27-12 to the seventh-ranked Linfield College Wildcats in Chapman Stadium on Sunday. The Panthers forced four turnovers in the game but were held scoreless in the second half.
