Chapman alumni find gridiron success in Italy
Mike Christensen was enjoying post-college life on the sands of Australia when he was contacted by former Chapman University teammate Eric Marty. Marty had been the starting quarterback for Gigantes Bolzano (the Bolzano Giants) of the Italian Football League since February. The Giants were in need of a running back and Christensen was the guy Marty wanted.

Five-in-a-row: Chapman punches ticket to championships for fifth straight year
"If necessary" turned out to be just what the Panthers needed. With a 7-4 victory over George Fox University in the second game of Sunday afternoons championship at Roy Helser Field, the Chapman University baseball team clinched its fifth straight berth to the NCAA Division III Championships.

Semel, Panthers shut the door on late East-Bay rally
With a three-run lead and the tying run at the plate in the ninth inning and only one out, John Semel retired the next two batters to preserve a 4-1 win for the Chapman University baseball team over visiting Cal State East-Bay on Friday night at Hart Park.

Chapman Nine: Football seniors inducted into Hall
A record nine Chapman University football seniors were inducted into the Orange County chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame for being outstanding college student-athletes. The group was honored at a dinner on Monday night in Anaheim.

Panthers clinch second consecutive winning season
The Chapman University offense snapped out of its recent slump and the defense shutout its opponent during the second half as the Panthers defeated visiting University of La Verne 33-14 at Wilson Field on Saturday night.

Chapman comes up (4 yards) short against No. 22 Redlands
In a tug-o-war between two of the hottest defenses in the West Region, the University of Redlands held off a possible game-tying drive by Chapman University late in the fourth quarter and defeated the Panthers 21-7 at Ted Runner Stadium in Redlands on Saturday afternoon.

Cresta earns ESPN Academic All-District Honors
Chapman University football player Tony Cresta has been named to the 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VIII team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the first such honor for Cresta in his career.

Defense again paces Chapman victory
For the second straight game, the Chapman University defense did not allow an offensive touchdown and the Panthers defeated host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 21-7 at Zinda Field on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing by eight points, visiting Whitworth University scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter including the game-winning score with 51 seconds remaining to escape with a 41-35 victory over the Chapman University football team Saturday night at Wilson Field.

For the second year in a row, Chapman University Athletics will partner with the schools on-campus radio station, Chapman Radio, to broadcast the Panthers football games in 2008 streaming live on the internet at www.chapmanradio.com.

Chapman wins its season opener in Menlo, 31-6
There wasnt much that didnt go right for the Chapman University football team in its 2008 season debut. The Panthers were efficient on both offense and defense, scored often and shutout host Menlo College for three quarters before defeating the Oaks 31-6 at Conner Field on Saturday afternoon.
