Panthers' ace earns Preseason All-America honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University junior RHP Brian Rauh has been named to the D3Baseball.com Preseason All-America first team for the second consecutive year. Rauh finished the 2011 season 11-0 to run his unbeaten streak to 22-0 in his career.

The ace capped off his sophomore year earning National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and ABCA West Region Pitcher of the Year awards and was named to the NCAA Division III All-America first team for the second season. He is just the fourth Chapman player to receive All-America honors twice in his career.

Rauh led all of Division III with 133 strikeouts and a 1.74 ERA in 2011 and is expected again be one of the national leaders in 2012. Rauh is 61 strikeouts shy of the all-time Chapman record held by Scott Akamine and Wayde Kitchens.

The junior is the only Chapman player represented on the Preseason All-America team and was one of five pitchers in the nation chosen.

The Panthers will open the season on Feb. 3 and will host Whittier College at Hart Park at 4:30 p.m.
