ORANGE, Calif. – The student-athletes at Chapman University were well represented at the 2018 Campus Leadership Awards. A total of 10 student-athletes earned a leadership award.

Each year, Chapman University calls for campus-wide nominations to recognize outstanding achievement by students and organizations within the Chapman community. Panther student-athletes were nominated and recognized for their leadership in all four classes.

Outstanding First Year Awards went to track & field and cross country runner Max Lopez, swimmer Josh Modglin and women's lacrosse defender Daisy Haas. Swimmer Crosby Tinucci joined women's soccer forward Elly Aronson and All-Region women's soccer defender Faith Holloway on the short list to earn the Outstanding Sophomore Award.

All-SCIAC women's volleyball middle blocker Lauren Friend was selected for the Outstanding Junior Award. Swimmer and water polo utility player Mary Welton, who was also this year's Jack Duddy Female Leadership Award recipient, earned the Outstanding Senior Award as did All-SCIAC men's basketball guard Rob Nelsen and All-SCIAC football safety Chris Williams.

The 10 student-athletes recognized in 2018 is the most in recent history. Tinucci, Friend and Nelsen all earned their respective class distinctions for the second year in a row. Friend was elected this spring as the new Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president for the 2018-19 school year.
