Senior Gavin Blodgett had three multiple hit games and drove in nine runs to lead the Chapman University baseball team to a sweep of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Panthers’ third baseman had three hits in Friday’s 9-0 win, two more hits in the first win of Saturday’s doubleheader and three more hits in the final game of the series.

The senior from Fullerton smashed two-RBI doubles in each of his first two trips to the plate on Friday to tally a four-RBI game. In Saturday’s second game, he tied his career-best with five RBIs in a 15-4 rout of CMS to complete the sweep. He went 3-for-5 and drove in at least one run with all three hits, including a two-run homer – his fifth of the season and 18th of his career.

Blodgett’s 35 RBIs leads the team and ranks second in the SCIAC this season. His next hit will be the 200th of his career. The Panthers won their sixth game in a row with the sweep of CMS and have won 18 of the last 22 games to move into third place in the SCIAC.
