Athlete of the Week: Charlie Piro - Baseball
In the last at-bat of his career at Hart Park, the senior came through with a walk-off, walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Chapman University baseball team a 6-5, series-clinching win over the University of Redlands on Saturday.

Athlete of the Week: James Parr - Baseball
In a 16-1 win over La Sierra last week, Parr hit his second grand slam of the season and third of his three-year career which is a school record.

Athlete of the Week: Cassie Oregel - Softball
The freshman from Anaheim ended the regular season with one of her best weeks of the year, going 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA. She pitched three complete games in three appearances and had a shutout

Athlete of the Week: Sophia Duong - Women's Tennis
Freshman No. 1 seed Sophia Duong earned Chapman's lone singles victory in an upset with a straight-sets win against Division III's No. 14-ranked Jamie Solomon from Pomona-Pitzer. Duong won the first set in a tiebreaker 7-6 before cruising in the second set 6-2.

Athlete of the Week: Lyon Lazare - Men's Golf
For the second-straight match, Lazare had the top score for Chapman, this time at the SCIAC #4 tournament hosted by Pomona-Pitzer on March 26.

Athlete of the Week: Brian Rauh - Baseball
With 13 strikeouts against Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, Rauh became Chapman's all-time strikeouts leader, now with 302 in his 2 1/2 year career. Against the Sagehens, the Lake Forest, Calif. native pitched nine innings while allowing just two unearned runs and three walks in a no decision, his third nine-inning no decision of the season.

Athlete of the Week: Melissa Boyer - Women's Tennis
The senior Huntington Beach, Calif. native leads the Panthers with an 8-2 overall singles record, and is 5-0 on the No. 4 court this season. Last week, Boyer saw her six-match winning streak come to an end when she lost to No. 5-ranked Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.

Athlete of the Week: Dylan Tevlin - Men's Tennis
The junior leads the team with five wins overall and has a 4-3 record this spring which includes a 3-1 record in matches at the Chapman Tennis Courts.

Athlete of the Week: Sam Martin - Women's Water Polo
In four games at the Posada Royale Invitational water polo tournament hosted by Cal Lutheran in which Chapman went 2-2, Martin scored 13 of the team’s 30 goals and added two assists, one steal and four earned ejections.

Athlete of the Week: Michelle Pitts - Softball
Pitts has hit safely in each of Chapman’s 11 games this season and is riding a 15-game hitting streak overall dating back to 2011. In the Panthers’ only two games this week, the senior catcher hit .556 with five hits including two doubles and a home run to go along with two RBI as the team split a doubleheader with Cal Lutheran.

Athlete of the Week: Darcy Hardwick - Women's Track & Field
Hardwick, a freshman, broke the 15-year old Chapman record in the long jump with a final jump measuring 5.19 meters at the Pomona-Pitzer All Comers event on Saturday afternoon in Claremont. The previous record was held by Natalie Neat with a jump of 5.02 meters in 1996.

Athlete of the Week: Julie Case - Women's Swimming
The sophomore set school records in the 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 freestyle distances and was a member of three other school-record breaking freestyle relay teams over the weekend at the PCSC Championships.

Mark Saatzer - Baseball
The sophomore IF had a big opening weekend for the No. 2 Chapman University baseball team at the plate, hitting .538 in three games against Whittier College, two of which were wins. He combined to go 7-for-13 with five RBI, four runs scored, three doubles, a home run and 13 total bases.

Emily McCoy - Women's Basketball
The junior guard is playing her best basketball of the season of late with three double-figure scoring games in the team’s last four. In a pair of games this past week, McCoy averaged 15.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and two assists while connecting on 10 of her 24 field-goal attempts.

Alex Carubis - Women's Swimming
Over the weekend at the Chapman Swim Invite, Carubis placed first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:48.96. In December at the UNLV Invite, the freshman set the school record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:41.59, eclipsing the previous school record time of 4:43.72 set by Kati Wise in 2003.

Brandon Lin - Men's Basketball
In a pair of games last week, the senior captain averaged 15 points, which included a career-high 20 points in a 58-54 win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday. His previous career-high was 19 points which he had against Pomona-Pitzer on December 2.

Samantha McLaughlin - Women's Swimming
On Saturday at the double dual meet hosted by Cal Baptist, McLaughlin had the top finish of the day for Chapman, placing in second in the 100-yard breaststroke with the time of 1:11.91.

Ben Ricard - Men's Basketball
In his first full season as a starting player, the senior has proved a knack for finding the basket in the Panthers' first four games. Ricard set a career-high on Friday with 23 points and added a season-high eight rebounds in Chapman's 77-64 loss to Whitman College.

Kimi Takaoka - Women's Basketball
The sophomore made the first two starts of her career and averaged 21 points and three steals in two games over the weekend at the University of Redlands Tip-Off Classic while being named to the All-Tournament team.

Kali'i Kunitomo - Football
Kunitomo capped an impressive first season with Chapman on Saturday with a career-high 153 yards receiving on seven catches in a 19-13 loss to No. 14 Redlands. The junior averaged 21.8 yards per catch in the game with a long of 47 yards.

Brett Carter - Men's Water Polo
In a 9-8 victory over Whittier College on Oct. 28, the sophomore 2M-D had his hand in four of the team’s nine scores. He scored two goals and also added two assists and two steals. This season, Carter is the team-leader in goals with 43 and is fourth with 22 assists and is a major reason why the water polo team is one win shy of securing its first winning regular season since 2008. Currently the Panthers are 12-11 with two regular season games left before the WWPA postseason tournament.

Chloe Canta - Women's Soccer
One month ago, senior GK Chloe Canta assumed her collegiate career was over. Just two games into her comeback from an ACL (knee) injury that ended her junior year prematurely, the she tore the same ligament in a loss to Pomona-Pitzer on Sept. 24. Season over...or so everyone thought. On Saturday, in Santa Cruz Canta became one of the most unlikely players to earn a shutout in goal.

Brent Hellesen - Men's Soccer
In three games, Hellesen had three assists in helping the Panthers to a 2-0-1 record last week. The sophomore assisted in three of the team’s six goals scored during the week, including a two-assist game in the Panthers 3-0 win over Berry College.

Bret Visciglia - Football
Down by two points, the senior QB led the Panthers on 9-play, 44-yard game-winning touchdown drive in the fourth quarter on Saturday which gave the team a 14-9 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and runs their record to 3-1 this season.

Alyssa Swatek - Volleyball
In two games last week in which Chapman went 1-1, the senior libero tallied 45 digs. She had 28 digs in a four-set loss to Cal State San Marcos on Sept. 28 and then had 17 digs in a sweep over Whittier on Oct. 1.

David Carson - Men's Water Polo
In four games over the weekend at the U.C. Davis Aggies Invite in which Chapman went 2-2, the senior tallied six goals, seven assists and six steals.

Kate Lilly - Women's Soccer
With a goal in each of the team’s two games last week and four goals this season, Lilly has become just the 11th player in school history to score 20 career goals. She scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win at Occidental on Wednesday and then followed that performance up with a one goal, one assist game in a 4-1 win at Whittier.

Kate Ferrin - Volleyball
The All-American MB posted 12 or more kills in each of the Panthers five matches this past week, leading the team in kills each match. She had 16 kills against both Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Puget Sound which was two short of her season-high of 18.

Mauricio Alfonso - Football/Men's Soccer
As performances go, Alfonso is not only a great opening act but he can close out a game too. The junior opened the 2011 soccer season with a goal in the first 6 minutes of play in Chapman's 3-1 win over Fontbonne University (Mo.) on Friday. He followed that up on Sunday by assisting teammate Nick Echeverry on a goal just 19 seconds into the Panthers' 1-0 win over the University of Puget Sound (Wash.).
