Samantha McLaughlin - Women's Swimming & Diving

The freshman sprinter played a critical role in the Panthers' setting three school records at the Pacific Coast Swim Conference championships last weekend. McLaughlin - a freestyle specialist - was the anchor on all three relay teams that broke Chapman records, including the 800-yard freestyle relay on Wednesday. The rookie swimmer teamed with three others to shatter the old Chapman mark in the event by more than 24 seconds with a time of 8:09.08. A day later, the Panthers broke the record in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.07. McLaughlin swam the final leg in just 24.70 as the Panthers' placed eighth overall in the event. On Friday, Chapman broke the 400-individual medley relay record with a time of 4:10.86 and McLaughlin anchoring the race once again.
